State LTC Partnership Programs
&
Mandatory Producer LTC Training
On February 2, 2006 Congress passed the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (DRA). One section of the DRA allows the expansion of Long Term Care Partnership programs by the states. A state partnership program allows an individual to purchase a long term care policy
that may protect a portion of their assets above the amounts usually allowed by Medicaid. Several states have adopted new partnership programs and other states are in the process of adopting them.
Most states that are adopting a partnership program are requiring producers who sell long term care insurance to take a partnership training course.
